My son is friends with the son of the outgoing PTA president at Randall, so when we met today to pass over some paperwork a playdate was formed.
But, it was a crazy day! Although I had washed multiple loads of laundry and covered the dining room table with clothes to be put away and cleaned the bathroom the house was still quite messy. And I was distracted trying to work on a summer schedule for bible study, respond to emails for teacher appreciation week and quickly cook supper. So, when Andrea arrived to pick up Ryan I let her into the chaos.
After we walked through to get the boys, she sighed and said, "I am so glad someone else lives like I live."
We had stopped right in front of the kitchen table where 2 of the kids had emptied their back packs that morning of papers which were still strewn out only to be joined by the remnants of 5 kids eating snack before heading out. I gestured to the table and said "you know, I am not really a good housekeeper".
Her response, "me either!"
I was tempted to offer to show her my bathroom - except with so many people in the house, I wasn't certain it was still clean. Then Andrea said, "I just can't wait to get home and get out of these clothes".
"You look nice", I said. She explained how it was the only pair of pants left clean at her house.
"I have to grab a shower" I explained. "I put this on quick this morning and then the day got away from me."
And with a smile my friend raised up the leg of her nice trousers to show me that she hadn't shaved her legs in days.
Now see, that's why we're friends!
